Do I need to bring any equipment/What is provided?
We cater to all learners with hands-on, lectures, videos and power-point classes. We ask all
students to bring notepad, pen or pencil for taking notes during these classes. Although this
is not essential it is highly recommended to help retain and expand on knowledge shared.
For some courses course books shall be provided for each student.
All equipment is provided at the academy to cut and style hair including Clippers, Scissors,
Combs, Brushes, Razors, Products PPE etc. Students may also bring their own professional
equipment and are therefore responsible for maintaining and cleaning their tools. The Sid
Sottung Academy does not take responsibility for loss or damage of personal equipment.
What should I wear?
The Sid Sottung Academy is also a performing salon. You may be learning alongside
professionals working with clients, we therefore ask all students to wear smart/casual,
black, appropriate clothing. No open shoes, shorts etc.
Via Daybrook Street the Sid Sottung Academy has four private parking spaces at the back of
the building. These spaces work on a first come first served basis, other spaces are allocated
for other businesses only and not extended to visitors of the Sid Sottung Academy.
Alternative free parking can be accessed at Winchester Street Car Park and Spondon Street
Car Park (be sure to check for any changes in rates if parking here).
Will I receive a Certificate?
On successful completion of a course students shall receive a Sid Sottung Academy
Diploma, approved by HABIA – The Hair and Beauty Industry Authority.
