MEET SID SOTTUNG
Sid Sottung, once a 14-year-old apprentice in a traditional Italian barbershop in New York, has evolved into a trailblazer in the hair industry. At 18, he joined Vidal Sassoon, quickly rising to Assistant Creative Director after successful stints in New York and Washington D.C.
Sid's decorated career continued as an educator in Sassoon academies, taking him from Santa Monica to international stages, including China. Following his Sassoon days, Sid ventured into freelancing, contributing to the 2005 blockbuster Pride & Prejudice and sharing his expertise in exclusive salons worldwide.
In 2014, with the Sid Sottung Academy, Sid is providing a unique opportunity to learn directly from an internationally recognized educator. The academy is now exclusively online and will provide training for all levels: beginners, intermediate, advanced, shaving and coloring. As of now, the Master Barber Program provides the fundamentals to kick-start a successful career.
COURSE CONTENT
My Foundation Course is the starting point for complete training as a barber. I designed this course as the first level of your learning journey. After this program, you will have comprehensive knowledge of the foundation of barbering and be able to apply it to your work or growing career. After this course, you will be ready to continue expanding your skills with the upcoming levels, increasing complexity and range of techniques.
Module 1
Welcome to the course! Let's start with all you need to follow the course and start your career.
Module 2
Introduction to barbering: from head and face shapes until brush knowledge and consultation.
Module 3
Let's discuss hair science and structure to understand the different types and ideal care.
Module 4
Cutting with scissors: from theory to how to hold the scissors, we will cover techniques for all lengths.
Module 5
Clipper cutting: let's learn different haircuts and fading techniques from theory to practice.
Module 6
Clipper and scissor cutting: I'll teach you classic taper, diagonal section haircut, and afro haircut techniques.
Module 7
Blowdrying: style with fingers, brush, and diffuse hair to achieve all the results you imagine!
Module 8
The final techniques that elevate your services include beard trim, eyebrow trim, and razor haircutting.
